From Earth to Sky:
Eastern Shoshone Way

From Earth to Sky: The Eastern Shoshone Way is more than a museum — it’s an immersive cultural experience that honors the past and builds for the future. This visionary Cultural Hub will serve as a central gathering space on the Wind River Reservation, reflecting the richness of Shoshone identity and the deep connections between land, story, and community.

The Hub will house interactive exhibitions shaped by Tribal voices and contemporary artists, alongside seasonal events, traditional foods, language classes, and arts workshops.

It will also bring together four essential Tribal departments currently operating in separate, inadequate facilities:

  • Archives – Preserving oral histories, documents, and photographs with proper environmental controls and digital access.

  • Cultural Arts & Education – Offering hands-on learning, traditional arts, language revitalization, and youth programs.

  • Tribal Historic Preservation Office – Protecting and interpreting culturally significant sites and artifacts.

  • Enrollment Office – Centralizing genealogical services and community records with dignity and care.

Rooted in traditional values and built for the next generation, the Cultural Hub will be a model of environmental stewardship and resilience. Designed as a net-zero energy building, the facility will incorporate solar power, native landscaping, permeable hardscape, rain and demonstration gardens, and a composting program to reduce food waste. Water conservation systems and a community garden will further reflect Shoshone traditions of living in balance with the Earth.

From Earth to Sky represents a bold step in cultural revitalization, sustainability, and

self-determination for the Eastern Shoshone people.
